A young person's view of the elections
"As a young person who now has the access to vote, I feel like a lot of young people are very passionate about their opinions and issues such as climate change, social justice and education. From my perspective, I haven’t had any experience with voting before and don’t know a lot about the political parties. I haven’t heard much about it from school or other adults who talk about politics so I am unsure what would be best for the community only on my judgement alone.
I know that young people's voices need to be heard as much as others and their vote counts just as much as any other.
Additionally, some young people might not feel like they have the time or resources to research the issues and candidates. It's important to provide resources and support to help young people learn about the political process and make informed decisions."
Voting isn't straightforward if you've never done it before - take your young person with you and explain what to do!
