When Lowestoft Rocked

There is a new history project taking place to find out more about YOUR experiences of the Lowestoft Music Scene in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

“‘When Lowestoft Rocked’ celebrates the town’s vibrant musical heritage and invites residents young and old to work together to uncover, record and share Lowestoft’s musical stories from the 1960s to the early 2000s; decades that saw legendary performances by acts including The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds, home-grown 60s beat bands and modern acts like The Darkness.

Over the coming months the project will encompass a programme of creative workshops, retro performances, intergenerational events and hands-on music heritage activities, where young people aged 16-24 will work alongside older residents to build skills, confidence and community pride, culminating in a co-curated exhibition at the newly redeveloped Town Hall, complete with interactive displays and a lasting archive of memories, music and ephemera for future generations.
